IP (Internet Protocol) is the mother of everything internet and all communication between devices, including Printers, Androids, PC’s, Tablets, Routers and Modems allowing them to distribute and relay information between themselves over a computer network. IP Data is almost like a domain name in the aspect of it being similar to a housing address, although this time it controls communication much like a postal service. You have your address and post code to allow newspapers, post, weekly magazine subscriptions, bills etc. Electronic devices use the same method, every time you set up an e-mail account, an online subscription or membership, visiting a page or connect to a server you’re using an IP address to access information. This information can be used to pinpoint a persons location on a computer/device or other specific details, so be careful whenever you share information that could be linked back to your IP.
As with all parents it’s sometimes hard to understand them, it’s the same with IP, made up of all little sequences of codes, numbers and dots it can be all a bit confusing. This is where domain names come in, transforming the sequences into readable words:
There are two main different IP types that are offered worldwide to any PC or device, these are static (unchanging) IP’s or Dynamic IP’s (changing). Static IP’s are permanently fused to your computer unless you purposefully want to change it, although this can lead to a heavy cost. Dynamic IP’s are much better suited for private businesses dealing with large quantities of money electronically, or sensitive data. Every time the user logs into the same PC the IP address will change making it difficult to be hacked and keeping your geographical identity hidden.
