This week WordPress released a security update, to WordPress 4.7.3. It is important that you are running the latest version of WordPress to keep your website secure from cyber attacks especially in this case if you are hosting any videos from sites such as YouTube.
Each time WordPress do a security update it is to prevent malicious attacks of some sort and to keep your website safe. Unfortunately there are hackers out there and they do not care who's site they attack or what consequence it has. You may think they won't attack my little site, but the attacks are automated and random.
So what to do? Firstly make sure you have a back up of your website files and database, just in case anything goes wrong you need to be able to go back to a recent point in time. Then go into the dashboard of your website and check what version of WordPress you are running. If on the dashboard it says you are on V4.7.3 then you are OK and WordPress has updated automatically. If it says any version lower than that you will need to update.
If you are unsure about any of this you can take a look at our previous post on Maintaining your website or give us a call and we can arrange to do this for you at a small cost.
